The holdover in the Ping iron like has a deep, parallel-to-the-ground cavity for perimeter weighting. The custom-tuning port helps stabilize the face at impact for better feel. A wide sole moves the CG away from the face to help launch the ball higher. These might not be the prettiest irons, but the G5 is the John Deere of clubs: a reliable workhorse that does the job.

Did not want to buy these irons due to the looks - they are big, clunky looking things. However, after being properly fit, I have never been as accurate as I am with these. Matched a set with the iWedges and lowered my scores by an average of 8 strokes/round.

Great irons, long, forgiving and straight. Nice big sweet spot too.

This review is a little different from most because golf to me is a social event, not an athletic one. I only get to play once a week or so, so I wanted a forgiving club that would improve my game. The G 5 is just the club.. I’ve play and practiced a lot with them and they have defiantly improved my scoring. I’ve lost a good 10 yards in distance with each club but have been more consistent. A good trade off. I like the high launch which can be a little changeling in the wind, but over all is a good feature. I’m not sure these would be the club for a proficient golfer, but for me they work.

I got my G5's about 3 weeks ago and have found that they are worth every cent. I have played Ping clubs for the past 20 years and this is the best set yet. Clubs are well built and I'm hitting the ball straighter and a bit longer than with my Ping i3+'s. This club feels a bit heavier as well and I find I am not swinging as hard as I was. The shock reducer in the steel shaft has noticeably reduced my wrist ache that was occuring after 18 holes. Way to go Ping and TWOG. You delivered on time exactly what I ordered!

Bought a set of G5's after three years of really liking my I3's but wanting something new. What a disaster! The offset is unnerving to look at, the clubs easily 15 yards shorter than my I3's. Had the Ping rep out, changed my "green" to "silver" and now the clubs are simply worthless! Worst point of all, Ping will do nothing to assist me in credit towards other Ping goods etc. Never again!

Buy these irons if you want to play better than you really are!, or to your true potential. I've palyed the Ping Eye2's for the last 15-years, and have never seen another iron I thought was worthy of changing for...until now! I have plyed two rounds with the G5's and found them long and forgiving, with a huge sweet-spot. I have the golf bug again because of these new sticks!!! Great job Ping!

I PURCHASED THE G5'S WITH RIFLE TOUR FLIGHTED SHAFTS.ALL I CAN SAY IS "WOW".I HAVE NEVER HIT A CLUB THAT GOES LONGER AND STRAIGHTER.THE CLUBS ARE 2 CLUBS LONGER THAN MY EYE 2'S AND SEEM TO HOLD THE GREENS LIKE THE SQ.GROOVE EYE 2'S DO.I HAVE PLAYED SEVERAL ROUNDS WITH THEM AND HAVE SHOT 2-3 STROKES LOWER THAN MY 11 HANDICAP,BUT ONCE I GET THE FEEL OF HITTING THE BALL LONGER THAN NORMAL FOR ME I WILL LOWER MY HANDICAP EVEN FUTHER.ONE GREAT SET OF IRONS.THE RIFLE SHAFTS MAKE THE CLUBS FEEL LIKE BUTTER AND ARE WORTH THE UPGRADED PRICE.
