r7 TP Irons
Features:
An inverted cone construction gives a higher COR and ball speed on mis-hits, resulting in increased average ball speed and increased average distance, while a dampening web of soft alluminum and high-tech bonding soaks up harsh vibratoins giving the Taylormade r7 TP Irons a phenomenally soft-yet-solid feel at impact.
Minimal offset and flatter lie angle give the player ultimate control over direction and trajectory for keen workability and maximum ball control. The r7 TP Irons feature a tour-configured sole and shallow cavity for less dig and higher CG. With this killer combination, you can execute a variety of shots with ease.
A Dynamic Gold steel shaft combines with a TaylorMade logo Tour Velvet grip for tour-proven performance, delivering an unparalleled combination of control, feel, traction, and comfort.
Benefits:
Increased ball speed and constant distance on the most common iron mis-hits
Phenomenally soft, yet solid feel at impact
Keen workability for maximum ball control
Confidence at address
Makes it easier to work the ball left, right, high and low
Allows players to execute a variety of shots
Delivers an unparalled combination of traction, comfort and feel
What type of player will benefit from the r7 TP iron?
The r7 TP iron was created for highly-skilled golfers seeking a combination of "constant distance," tour-caliber trajectory and great feel in a classically-shaped head.
What makes the r7 TP iron so appealing to skilled players?
For starters, the r7 TP iron looks beautiful, with a compact size and shape and thin topline that calls to mind a classic blade. The r7 TP iron is also extremely workable, making it easy to hit the ball higher and lower and to bend the ball left and right.
What gives the r7 TP iron such great workability?
The r7 TP iron is engineered with a higher CG than the average game-improvement iron. Skilled players prefer this higher CG because it promotes lower, tour-caliber ball flight and because it makes it easier to produce the sidespin necessary to intentionally work the ball in either direction.
How forgiving is the r7 TP iron?
Surprisingly, the r7 TP iron is extremely forgiving, considering it is essentially a blade-style iron with a shallow cavity. Our R&D department worked very hard to create a player's cavity back that delivers what they call “great mass properties.” This was achieved by utilizing a thin face and a relatively large cavity for this category of iron. Amazingly, the r7 TP iron’s MOI is comparable to that of the r7 iron. That high MOI makes the clubhead extremely stable and resistant to twisting on mis-hits.
The r7 TP iron also features Inverted Cone Technology, which increases the size of its COR zone to promote greater ball speed on hits away from the center of the clubface. Together, the r7 TP iron’s high MOI and Inverted Cone Technology work together to drive the r7 TP iron’s talent for delivering “constant distance” from shot to shot, so that very little distance is lost on mis-hits.
What gives the r7 TP iron such great feel?
The r7 TP's compact shape and shallow cavity combine with TaylorMade’s new shock-absorption web to deliver a phenomenally soft-yet-solid feel at impact that needs to be felt to be fully appreciated.
Will the r7 TP iron be played on tour?
Absolutely, and not only that, we expect it to be our No. 1 iron model on the PGA Tour within three months of its official introduction to the pros.
Why is the r7 TP iron cast when previous TP irons have been coin-forged?
Casting the r7 TP iron allowed us to achieve its advanced cavity design and the excellent mass properties and performance it allows; we couldn't have succeeded at that through a traditional coin-forging process.
Why is the r7 TP iron priced lower than previous TP irons?
One reason is that the processes used to produce the r7 TP clubhead are more cost effective and efficient than those employed to produce previous, coin-forged TP irons. Also, the r7 TP iron requires fewer secondary manufacturing steps to finish the clubhead compared to previous TP irons.

| The SelectFit system has 17 shaft options and allows for lie-angle adjustments from 4 degrees flat to 4 degrees upright. A shallow cavity lets the player work the ball, and the tour-inspired sole has a ground edge for playing from a variety of lies. We’re huge fans of fitting, and the new SelectFit system offers hundreds of options. For players in the market for clubs in this category, that makes a difference. |

| Tested club yesterday and had very nice feel along with good flight and distance. Nice lofts for tour irons with the 6 iron at 31 deg compared to the standard R7 6 iron at around 28 deg. Definately worth a try if in the market for new irons. |

| These irons are how irons are supposed to be! Smooth and long. They have excellent workability and they are fairly forgiving, especially for a thin sole iron. These irons are for a serious golfer looking constantly to improve their scores. Good job Tayler Made. |

| Very good clubs. I'm a consistent 70's shooter and I mostly like consistency over workability. These clubs provide excellent constistency. Distances are VERY consistent. Very long and solid. Launch angle is just perfect. Very hard to miss the green with these clubs. You really have to put a bad swing on the ball to do that. I think the amount of workability with these clubs is just perfect as well. I can work the ball up to about 10-15 yards either to the left or the right. Any more, and it's a little excessive in my opinion. They have a great feel. Very soft, but not as soft as a forged iron, which will also give you more workability, but less consistency. With these R7's, I can hit a perfect little 5-yard cut that just seems nearly effortless. Very easy to hit. They are also extremely forgiving. A thin shot with my old clubs would come up as much as 30 yards short. The R7's are more in the range of 5-10 yards short on a thin shot. You get a surprising amount of carry with off-center hits. I couldn't be happier with these clubs.
This set of clubs is a fantastic balance for someone that seeks consistency in their distance and accuracy, but also likes to work the ball a little on occasion. |
